Farm funding deadline tracker: which grants are open?

Half the farm funding pages online still list schemes that shut months ago. Everything here was re-read at gov.uk and the Defra Farming Blog on 15 August 2026, closed schemes included, because knowing a scheme has gone is worth as much as knowing one is open. Answer a few questions to see what you can still apply for.

Question 1

Where is the land?

This site covers England. Farm funding is devolved, so Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland run entirely separate schemes with their own dates.

England farm grant status board, checked 15 August 2026

Last updated

Every England farm scheme with its status and next date, as published by Defra, the Rural Payments Agency and the Forestry Commission on the day shown. Closed schemes are listed, not hidden, because most farm funding pages quietly drop them.

Each row was re-read at source on 15 August 2026 from gov.uk 'Funding for farmers, growers and land managers' (last updated 5 August 2026), the SFI26 scheme information pages, the Capital Grants 2026 applicant's guide, and the Defra Farming Blog posts of 29 July, 1 August and 5 August 2026. Status wording follows the source. Where a scheme has no fixed closing date, the row says so rather than estimating one. This board covers England only: Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland run separate schemes on separate timetables.

Farm Grant Deadlines is an independent information site operated by Ellul Solutions Ltd. It is not affiliated with Defra, the Rural Payments Agency, the Forestry Commission or any government body, and nothing here is financial or legal advice. Every status and date on this site was re-read at source on the date shown at the top of the page, but farm schemes open and close at short notice and some close on budget rather than on a date. Confirm the current position on the scheme's own gov.uk page before you spend money or commit to work.

Common questions

Which farm grants are open in England right now?

As at 15 August 2026: SFI26 Window 1 (closing no later than 11:59pm on 28 August), Capital Grants 2026 (until the budget is allocated), Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier by expression of interest, Farming in Protected Landscapes, the animal health and welfare vet reviews, poultry biosecurity reviews, and the woodland creation and planning grants.

When does SFI26 Window 1 close?

No later than 11:59pm on 28 August 2026, per Defra's update of 5 August 2026. It can close earlier if the £60 million Window 1 budget is fully allocated first. Window 2 opens in September 2026 for everyone.

Is the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund open?

No. FETF shows as closed on gov.uk as at 15 August 2026, and the funding page's update history records the closing date being moved to midday on 12 May 2026. No further round has been announced.

Does Capital Grants 2026 have a deadline?

Not a date. It closes when the available funding is allocated, and applications started but not yet submitted at that point are not accepted. 75% of the £225 million budget had been allocated by 1 August 2026.

Can I apply for the Farmer Collaboration Fund as a farmer?

No. Defra states that individual farmers, land managers and group facilitators cannot apply. Applications for the first round, which opens on 1 September 2026 and closes on 30 September 2026, come from delivery partner organisations.

Do these dates apply in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland?

No. Farm funding is devolved. This site covers England only. Wales runs the Sustainable Farming Scheme, Scotland runs its schemes through Rural Payments and Services, and Northern Ireland's are administered by DAERA, each on its own timetable.
